This is a pretty good summary of some of the fundamental concepts behind these sites. The twitter suggestion is something that is not readily apparent to new users.
Videos are immensly cool and they add a new dimension in the way you can communicate. I bought a Sony video camera in October 2008 for about £130 and started filming rehearsals, backstage stuff and even photoshoots! Every now and then when I forget the camera I film with my mobile phone and that gives great results too.
The key is to get the big 5 (as a musician you MUST include MySpace - but if you’re just marketing and not music, you can leave it out) working together.
That is Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Your Blog (Wordpress is the way to go for your site) and MySpace.
Tweet 100 times a day and make it personal. This actually only takes 15 minutes or so. If you set up some RSS feeds of stuff that interests you, you’ll have everything sent to you for you to tweet ensuring a stream of stuff that your followers will love.
Add your tweet feed to update your Facebook status. This is a great time saver.
Get as much stuff on YouTube as you can and encourage comments and embedding - this spreads your stuff quicker. The more people that you can get to subscribe to your channel, the quicker a new video will get a bump.
Then, send everyone to your blog from all these sources where you control the content and environment and that’s where you get them to interact with your music.
As you say, there, they must sign up to your list to get loads of music from you.
Oh, and this course from Perry Belcher is nasty expensive, but it’s absolutely brilliant at pulling it all together. One of my readers bought it two days ago intending to apply it to his music acreer and is blown away.
I’ve watched all the stuff available so far with him and it looks exceptional.
It’s worth a look even if you have no intention of buying it. The free report he gives away at http://tinyurl.com/nku2z8 has some great info - well worth trading your email address for.
Thanks very much for this video. It’s a very intelligent strategy. I think one very important tip when promoting yourself is; making it personal. The more personal it is, the more people can relate to you, and the more people can relate, the odds are for liking you. Thanks agian,
Great video Kavit! I like the idea of following your more known musical counterparts as a way to relate back to your sound and music. Also a good idea with the url at the beginning of a youtube video. I have put all my urls for my music videos at the bottom and now will update this.
Thanks again and look forward to the new Twitter, Facebook and YouTube followers I will attract :-).
Hello Kavit I have been getting info from you for a long time and I like it alot. I am learning what you have taught so generously. I want to say that I like you very much. I hope that one day you become rich you deserve it.

Hey brother… I dig what you’re doing. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else doing this kind of thing. I don’t know if it’s in your program but it would be cool to have a section about telemarketing yourself to everyone from clubs to managers to record companies to help get you to the next level. Examples of what to say, organizing contact lists, the importance of constant follow up, etc…
Yes Kavit! Figuring out how to effectively and efficiently use Social Nets gives me a HEADACHE. But your info is clear and concise and makes me believe that EVEN I can get a handle on these strategies.
Hey there!
You are the quintessential cheerleader. We met this time of year last year - how time flies!! I’m back now revisiting everything and moving things to the next level with social media, etc. based on what I’ve learned over the course of the last year and it is great to hear your motivational speaking and tips.

Manisha

Twitter-I love it. I use it about everyday. It’s a great tool.
Facebook-I just started using it so I’m still getting use to it.
YouTube-I have had an account for awhile but just started really using it.
All 3 seem like great tools if actually used. Plus, all the many other networking and social media sites if actually utilized
