Jim,
Thanks for the good thoughts. I am not precisely clear on where we disagree about the word branding. I object to it as contrived and not representing art with heart, or anything else with heart. For me, branding is cold and impersonal.

Regardless, I am delighted with the approach you are taking. You demonstrate two very good approaches: 1) you are listening to the responses you get; and, 2) you are looking to see where that takes you. I wish you great success.

I was interested in the take you had on the word branding and I somewhat disagree. Yes, as a musician I am a dynamic "product" but as a human being there is a very consistent underlying core to who I am as a person and an artist. I may try many different things but the underlying true self never changes. This is the spirit, if you will, behind my art and that is the brand I want to establish. I am working towards "art with heart" but I don't know if that have it right yet. A friend recently left this comment on my site..."you remind me of the artist who cares about way more than only the music. And of course, the music can develop legs and urge love... How great is that?" I am attempting to merge the art with heart and this comment into what I consider to be the "brand" that best describes me on the basic level. This is the underlying concept I want to put forward in my web site and my approach. I would be interested on anyone else's ideas on this. Thank you for such an informative article, Ed. It really made me think this through a bit more and that is always good!- Jim
